Be careful with acidic drinks

Acidic drinks, like fruit juice and wine, are common in today’s diets.  The problem is that they can soften the tooth surface, making it more susceptible to damage.

One way to mitigate this is to limit the amount of time the beverage is in the mouth.  Swishing it around can increase the chances of damage.

Using a straw placed towards the back of mouth is another way to minimize the damage.

And finally, wait a while before brushing after consuming these drinks and use a soft toothbrush when brushing.  Also, rinse with water right after drinking.
