When to Remove Wisdom Teeth

Your wisdom teeth are the four molars in the back of your jaw that usually begin showing when you are in your early twenties. They should be removed if there is inflamed gum tissue in that area or pain from the pressure of the teeth.

If treatment is needed, but not received, the molars may create problems down the road as they move up to the top of the gum line. It could even result in possible bone loss and weakening of the jaw.

Even if you do not have any of the problematic symptoms, you still want to listen to the advice of your dentist to prevent complications later on.

Of course, any procedure will have some risk factors and require healing time which could take several days. So while not everyone has wisdom teeth removed, talk with your Summerville dentist to make the best decision for your situation.
